Fabulously Delicious Baklava


1 pound Pecans
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 (16 ounce) package Athens Fillo dough
2 Sticks butter (melted)

3 1/2 cups white sugar
2 cups water
2 tablespoons lemon juice


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. Place 10 of the sheets, layering with butter(sheet then, moisten the sheet with butter & repeat) in the bottom of the pan. Chop pecans with 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in food processor or blender. Spread some ground pecan mixture evenly over fillo(layering pecan mixture over the 10 sheets, then place another sheet of dough on top of the pecan mixture buttering then repeating) NOTE: DO NOT PUT THE ENTIRE PECAN MIXTURE ON TOP OF THE FIRST 10 SHEETS. When pecan mixture ends, top with the rest of the fillo dough sheets, layering again with butter (as in the beginning). Bake in center rack of the oven for 45 minutes(check after 30 min.) or until top dough is golden brown.

To make syrup: Combine 3 1/2 cups sugar, water and lemon juice in large saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Let cool before pouring over pastry. Pour syrup over finished hot pastry. Cut in to squares, Let cool before serving.
